Well I never!!
I honestly never ever thought that I would be reporting the item of news that has just been sent to me.
But before I divulge it perhaps we should go back a few years, in fact we should go to the beginning of the present Century.
That was the year I was introduced to bowling in South Africa. I had played the harder game of Crown Green bowls in NW England – but we won’t go into that again.
SA’s U-25 and U-19 Development Interdistricts
It’s a pity the chicken day and bar brigade, existing for only for their own selfish social ends, who pooh-pooh development, was not with me at Bowls SA’s U-25 and 19-development interdistricts played at George, Outeniqua and Groot Brak Rivier. It was a bowls epiphany.
Dog Coghlan as Coach
Do we really want to lose Dog Coghlan as a coach? I fear if the better players do not try to co-operate with coaching structures (given the nod by the WPBA), he might call it a day.
The amiable guru, now 80, a retired professor of coaching cerebral and physical at Rhodes University for two decades (and, it must be said, used to getting his way) is appealing to coaches and experienced players (especially WP’s men) to attend clinics (from September) on inner game principles; how they can be utilised.
